We are going to the 3rd year of existence of the new WUKO. In these 30 months of existence we could feel how important was the new WUKO for the World of Karate.

Organizing big competitions in different countries is a great responsibility for WUKO as well as the competitors, the coaches and officials of the participating federations will charge WUKO with all the mistakes and nonconformities of organizing committee. Lot of time WUKO image depends by the ability and competence of local organizing committee because mostly all the problems appear by the lack of performance of the people from the federation that is in charge with the organization of the event.

This is why WUKO decided that the next events will be very carefully monitoring by WUKO officers in charge.

In this respect WUKO president, Osvaldo Messias de Oliveira, and the General Secretary (or General Director for events). Liviu Crisan, were delegated to evaluate the possibilities of organizing the World Championship for Seniors from 2009 in Ukraine at Odessa . First 6 days from July they inspected the Sport Hall, the official hotels, talked with the local Organizing Committee, met local officials, the delegate from Ukraine Sport Ministry some sponsors and finally they made the report to the WUKO Directing Committee recommending the organizing of the event. The final decision was made and JFU from Ukraine is in charge to organize the next WUKO World Championship for Seniors in 2009.

The Karate Intercontinental Open Championship in Pretoria , South Africa was a good opportunity for WUKO officers to evaluate the capability of South African federations to organize a big event. WUKO president and General Secretary were participating in this important event for Africa Continent. It was a very good championship with 850 participants, good sport hall and good organization. Sensei Koos Burger and his professional organizing team made tremendous efforts for managing all the tasks of this competition and they did it very well. South Africa with 6 affiliated federations is a huge potential for quality competitions. The people know what and how to do and it is easy to work with them. Mrs. Alta Venter was an inspired Chief Referee especially having a team with not too many WUKO referees. But finally all the participants wanted to have a good championship and their efforts leaded to a really successful one. In 2009 South Africa federations will join the efforts together and they will organize the first WUKO Africa Championship. WUKO will support with all organizing team, software and manpower and this will lead at a big success for sure.

South Africa is one of the candidates for organize the World Children, Cadets and Juniors Championships WUKO in 2010 too, it will be decided by the Executive Committee until the event in Jesolo - Italy.
